Day 1: Cusco – Cancha Cancha
Early in the morning, we will take the bus, for about 2 hours, to the Huaran village (2,840 m). This will be the starting point of our hike. There, we will meet all the staff that will accompany us during the trek. We will start above the Cancha Cancha river, walking through a luxuriant valley until we arrive at the picturesque village of the same name (3,800 m), where our camp is located.
Day 2: Cancha Cancha – Quiswarani
On that day, we will go on a steep ascent to the Pachakuteq pass (4,458 m), the highest point of our walk. From there, we will enjoy the beautiful views of the snow-capped Pitusiray, Chicón and Sawasiray. We will then come down as far as the Quiswarani village (3,700 m), in which we will camp.
Day 3: Quiswarani – Lares
After breakfast, we will set off for about 3 hours, until we reach the Huillquijasa pass (4,200 m), the second highest pass of our hike. From this place, the view is stunning and makes the ascent worth the effort. We will come down as far as the Cuncani village, passing by beautiful turquoise-colored lakes. We will keep on descending until we arrive at the thermal springs of Lares (3,860 m), where we will spend the night.
Day 4: Lares – Cusco
After breakfast, the morning will be devoted to enjoying the thermal springs, a well-deserved reward after the hike. From Lares, we will take a bus back to Cusco.
