Day 1: Lima – Pisco – Paracas National Reserve
We will leave Pisco by private bus, and will drive along the Pacific coast, via Cañete. We will visit the Paracas islands and the Ecological Reserve, in which we will see numerous species of sea lions and birds. Dinner and night.
Day 2: Pisco – Ballestas Islands – Nazca
In the morning, we will go on a boat excursion to the Ballestas islands. We will have the opportunity to sea sea lions and guano birds, among others. We will also see the places in which the guano is cultivated. We will then visit Ica and its big vineyards. In the afternoon, we will visit the regional museum, in which we will learn more about the Nazca, Paracas and Inca civilizations.
Day 3: Nazca – Arequipa
Excursion as far as the Chauchilla Cemetery, a 1,500-year old remain of the Paracas civilization in the middle of the desert. We will the visit the Cantalloc aqueducts, before continuing our trip to Arequipa, where we will spend the night.
Day 4: Arequipa – Chivay
We will be in the western mountain range, which is divided in two: one part is formed by a chain of volcanos, such as Coropuna (6,035 m), Ampato (6,288 m), Chachani (6,057 m), and the other one is the side of the high plateau (4,000 m). There, we will have the opportunity to appreciate the locals life and the fauna (in particular the lamas). In the afternoon, we will go on a tour in the beautiful Ciudad Blanca (white city) and its churches made of a white volcanic rock from the region. We will also visit the Santa Catalina Convent, in an Andalusian style: a city in another one. During the night, we will take the bus to Chivay. Dinner and night.
Day 5: Colca Canyon
The Colca Canyon is very deep, with its 3,000 masl. We will be taken to the Condor Cross where, if we are lucky, we will be able to see condors. After lunch, we will go for a short walk to the thermal springs of Calera, where you will have the opportunity to take a bath if you wish so. We will spend the night there.
Day 6: Chiva – Puno
This will be a long drive to Puno, during which we will pass through impressive and desert landscapes. On the way, we will visit the Chullpas (tombs) of Sillustani. The city of Puno is located in the South of the Peruvian high plateau, on the edge of the Titicaca lake, the highest navigable lake of the world. This is a very unusual city, in the shape of an amphitheatre, with streets going from 4,000 m to 3,800 m. of altitude. We will spend the night there.
Day 7: Titicaca lake
Excursion in a boat, on the Titicaca lake. You will visit the floating islands of Uros, an ethnic group now extinct and replaced by Aymara fishermen. We might have the opportunity to see how the large reed rafts which are used for fishing are built. We will then visit the Taquile island. In the afternoon, trip back to Puno, where we will stay the night.
Day 8: Puno – Tinke
We will leave by bus, taking the road of Puno – Cusco. We will pass through Sicuani and beautiful landscapes, as well as two mountain passes, 4,200 and 4,000 meter high. We will take a deviation to arrive at Tinke, where we will be able to appreciate the northwest slope of the Ausangate. We will spend the night in a small guesthouse in the area.
Day 9: Vilcanota mountain range – Cusco
For the most daring people, we will admire the sunrise from the Ausangate (6,372 m), the high point of the Vilcanota mountain range. Our bus will drive us as far as the Pirhuayani pass (4,800 m), the highest point on the road from Cusco to the Peruvian Amazonia. Extraordinary visit of the northern slope of the Vilcanota mountain range. We will walk a little while to appreciate the small lakes as well as numerous kinds of alpacas and lamas. We will continue by bus as far as Cusco, where we will stay the night.
Day 10: Sacred Valley – Pisaq – Maras – Ollantaytambo
Excursion through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Pisaq archaeological site. We will walk down as far as the Plaza de Armas. The bus will take us directly to Urubamba for our delicious buffet. We will then head for Maras, a complex of salt terraces, and will come down to where the bus will be waiting for us, to take us to Ollantaytambo. We will visit the city and spend the night there.
Day 11: Ollantaytambo – km 104 – Wiñaywayna – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes
We will take the train to the km 104 (2,070 m), where we will begin our hike. The second most important point is Wiñaywayna (2,400 m), with its magnificent terraces and ruins. After a two-hour walk, we will arrive at Intipunku, the famous Sun Gate (2,700 m). We will go down by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will stay the night.
Day 12: Visit of the Machupicchu – Cusco
On that day, we will take a touristic bus very early in the morning to the Machupicchu. Full visit of the place. At noon, trip back, lunch, and train back to Ollantaytambo. Trip back to Cusco by bus.
Day 13: Sacsayhuaman – Tambomachay – Puca Pucara – Qenqo – Historic Center
We will be taken to Tambomachay, where we will begin our tour, walking. Visit of the 4 archaelogical centers near Cusco. In the afternoon, we will visit the Qoricancha temple and the main streets of Cusco.
Day 14: Cusco – Lima
Transfer Hotel – Airport. When we arrive, we will visit the center of Lima, the Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Martin, the Cathedral, and the San Francisco Monastery. Transfer to Lima airport.
